ABOUT THE WORKSHOP: Established in 1968, The Clarion Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers' Workshop is widely recognized as a premier proving and training ground for aspiring writers of fantasy and science fiction. The Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame routinely mentions the Clarion Workshop in the vitae of its eminent inductees, a number of whom have taught in the program. The list of instructors includes science fiction icons Octavia Butler, Orson Scott Card, Samuel Delany, Thomas Disch, Harlan Ellison, James Morrow, Joanna Russ, Damon Knight, Kate Wilhelm, Gene Wolfe, Harry Harrison, and many others, From 1972 through 2006, Clarion was hosted by Michigan State University in East Lansing. 2007 marked the beginning of a new chapter in the workshop's long history of excellence as we bid MSU a fond farewell and conducted our first workshop on the beautiful campus of the University of California, San Diego.
